Momentum Jonesboro 2.0 is our aggressive approach to economic development in Jonesboro. It heightens and builds on the rich tradition of progress Jonesboro Unlimited has had for many years. Momentum Jonesboro 2.0 will create even more jobs, provide skilled talent, and enhance our community’s quality of life. This plan is needed in order to remain competitive in today’s global recruitment and expansion efforts. It provides a strategic five-year vision for success.

Jonesboro Unlimited's first Momentum Jonesboro campaign launched in 2017 with a robust set of five-year goals as outlined in our first Strategic Plan.  The hallmark of the plan called for the creation of 2,500 direct new jobs across our targeted industries; agribusiness, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and professional services.  That goal was doubled!  After five years of working our strategic plan 5,001 direct new jobs were added to Jonesboro's economy.

In February of 2022, we officially kicked off our second Strategic Plan, Momentum Jonesboro 2.0.  In 2021, Ernst and Young (EY) was commissioned by Jonesboro Unlimited to develop a vision and strategic plan for Jonesboro’s future approach to economic development.  Our vision is for Jonesboro to be an exceptional community with a robust economy, strong job opportunities, increasing per capita income, and a wealth of educational, healthcare, and lifestyle amenities that further the prosperity of our residents.

KEY PRIORITIES

As the plan emerged, four key priorities were identified:  Business Growth and Innovation, Talent Attraction, Quality of Life and Infrastructure, and Branding and Marketing.  These goals work together to create, attract, and retain new higher paying jobs for Jonesboro residents as well as attracting talent to Jonesboro.  They are focused on economic development in specific target industries that will accelerate growth in higher paying sectors.

TALENT ATTRACTION

Continuing to build and develop Jonesboro’s skilled workforce is an endeavor we are proud to undertake. By cultivating students and our growing population of young professionals, Jonesboro Unlimited will expand our efforts to attract and retain the workforce to grow the local economy. Our commitment to this as part of our new Five-Year Strategic Plan is already in place.

Worlow will focus on recruiting talent to support Jonesboro’s growing economy, emphasizing the retention of local graduates from Arkansas State University and surrounding colleges. Worlow’s role includes working with local employers to enhance their talent attraction efforts.

TARGET INDUSTRIES

Four target industries were selected for Jonesboro, based on local and national trends, Jonesboro’s competitive assets, and our community vision:  Technology and Professional Services, Healthcare, Logistics, and Advanced Manufacturing.

The Executive Summary of the strategic plan will give you a detailed look at our vision for the future.
